File Browser (Beta)
The File Browser is a new experience integrated into the Home App that allows users to browse, manage, and transfer files associated with their Edge environment. This feature is currently in beta and available to users with the Plus license.
⚠️ The legacy Data App is being phased out. This new File Browser offers a modern, streamlined interface with improved functionality.
Key Features
The File Browser supports the following core operations:
- File Listings: Browse files and folders using a familiar path-based view.
- Folder Creation: Easily create new directories.
- File Uploads: Upload one or multiple files with real-time progress tracking.
- File Downloads: Securely download files directly from your Edge environment.
- Deletion: Delete single files, empty folders, or recursively delete entire folder structures.
- Safety Prompts: Confirmation dialogs for potentially destructive actions like overwrites and deletions.
- Copy/Cut and Paste: Move or duplicate files and folders within your Edge workspace.
File Browsing
Navigate through your files and directories using the intuitive folder-based interface. The layout provides:
- Left pane: Folder hierarchy
- Right pane: Files and subfolders within the selected directory
Use breadcrumb navigation to jump between levels quickly.
Uploads
You can upload individual files or entire folder structures:
- Single File Upload: Drag and drop or select files manually.
- Recursive Upload: Upload entire folders. Conflicts will prompt for overwrite confirmation.
- Progress Indicators: Upload progress is shown for each file.
- Large File Handling: Warnings are displayed for large uploads to avoid accidental slowdowns.
Downloads
Download files directly to your local system:
- Click the download icon next to any file.
- Files are downloaded securely using signed links.
Deletion
You can delete:
- Single Files: Instantly removed after confirmation.
- Empty Folders: Deleted upon user confirmation.
- Folders with Contents: Use recursive deletion to remove all contents. You’ll be prompted before performing this action.
Folder Management
- Create Folders: Add new folders in your current directory.
- Rename Folders: Right-click and choose Rename.
- Delete Empty Folders: Safe deletion with confirmation.
Copy and Move Files
Use the Copy/Cut and Paste options to:
- Move files across folders
- Duplicate files into new directories
This feature is limited to files in the current beta release.
Beta Access & Feature Toggle
The File Browser is currently in beta. You can enable it from the user preferences section of the Home App.
- Go to Menu > My Profile > Other Settings
- Toggle on Use pre-release features.
This allows you to use the new File Browser as needed.

This feature is actively tested using automated end-to-end scenarios to ensure stability and usability. Expect continued improvements throughout the beta phase.
